PURPOSE:To prevent a malfunction, and to exactly discriminate a non-recorded area, by providing a filter between a magnetic head and a level discriminating circuit, and setting a passing frequency band which is varied by a tape speed. CONSTITUTION:A tape 1 is made to run at a speed being suitable for reproducing, by a driving device 2, and also is forwarded fast and rewound at a higher speed than its reproducing speed. An output from a magnetic head 3 is led out to a line 5 through an equalizer 4, and is outputted to a loudspeaker 7. Between the line 5 and a level discriminating circuit 8, a filter 9 is provided. When the tape 1 is running at a higher speed than its reproducing speed, the filter 9 makes a signal of a higher frequency band than that of the time of its reproducing speed pass through. The level discriminating circuit 8 discriminates a level of a frequency signal from the filter 9, and discriminates a non-recorded area when it is below the discrimination level. |
