PURPOSE:To obtain the title honeycomb structure in high productivity and in high yield causing no crack or chipping off, by removing, from a honeycomb form made from pottery soil containing polyalkylene glycol monoether and water, said water and ether via the penetrating holes in said form. CONSTITUTION:(a) Pottery soil is prepared by kneading a ceramic material and an organic binder with a mixture comprising 85-50wt.% of water and 15-50wt.% of a polyalkylene glycol monoether(PAGME) such as diethylene glycol monoether. (b) This pottery soil is put to extrusion forming into a honeycomb form. (c) A conditioned air 90-70% in relative humidity is forcedly passed through the penetrating holes in this honeycomb form to remove the water from said form. (d) Thence, an air heated to such temperatures as to be enough to evaporate said PAGME is passed through the above penetrating holes to eliminate the PAGME from said form; thus obtaining the objective ceramic honeycomb structure. |
