Described are 2-(4-pyridylaminomethyl-benzimidazole derivatves of the general formula:

wherein n is 0, 1 or 2, R is lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, benzoyl, halogenomethyl, halogen, nitro or amino, their acid addition salts, and pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds. The compounds are useful as antiviral agents, in particular against picornaviruses. |
