<p>Pulper for papermaking pulp, of the type comprising a cylindrical vessel open in its upper part and closed by a bottom fitted with a rotor supporting a vertical shaft extending along the central axis of revolution of the vessel inside the vessel, the side wall of the vessel comprising a device for forced recirculation of the pulp; the recirculating device (7) comprises at least one surface member (8,21) spreading out substantially circularly along the wall (9) of the pulper, extending from the wall towards the interior of the vessel (1) and towards the upper opening (20) of the pulper, over a uniform distance (12,22) so as to form a strip of uniform width, one of the faces (24) of the member being pointed towards the bottom of the vessel, so that the pulp (6) encountering this face (24) is diverted in a single direction within the vessel.
