A process for vibration filling of electrode matrices having a foamed or fibrous structure for galvanic cells, in particular for electrical accumulators, is described in which one or more electrode matrices are completely immersed into an active mass paste which is being vibrated. In addition, the active mass paste is specified, which has an active mass proportion of from 25 to 60% by volume, a maximum particle size of the active particles of 0.04 mm, and in the non-vibrated state a yield strength of from 10 to 120 Pa and a plastic viscosity of from 0.1 to 1 Pa.s at 20@C. The active mass paste may additionally contain a dispersant from the group comprising the water-soluble salts of the polyphosphoric acids.
