A hand towel dispenser (10) in the form of a container (12) made of cardboard, filled with hand towels (13) and closed by means of a lid (11) is to be designed in such a way that heating and thorough-moistening of the hand towels (13) is possible in a simple way. This is achieved in that the container (12) consists of a cardboard which is heat-resistant to above 200@C and a watertight film bag (14) containing a predetermined quantity of water is provided in the container (12). The container (12) can be heated, together with the hand towels (13) and the film bag (14), in an oven, during which process the water situated in the film bag (14) is also heated. Subsequently, the film bag (14) can be opened and the heated water poured out over the hand towels (13), with the result that the latter are now thoroughly moistened. The work required to do this is restricted to the minimum necessary. <IMAGE>
