A three-legged jack (1) (Fig. 2) serves to raise aircraft. For this purpose, it has a cylinder (4) arranged in a support frame (2). The jack has travelling wheels. According to the invention, one of the customarily three wheels (5) is connected to a travelling drive (6) and a control drive (7). Said drives can be actuated with the aid of a control device (10) and a remote control device (11). The travelling drive and the control drive are preferably combined in a compact drive and control unit (8) and arranged above the control or drive wheel. The remaining wheels can be fixed in a parallel position. The self-propelled jack thus formed can be placed in its working position under the respective receiving point on the aircraft by a single operator. If required, the travelling drive (6) can also be used to move the three-legged jack to a parking place.
