A straight stem (1) for a prosthetic femur head, the stem being cylindrical in its distal zone, the distal cylinder (4) mering into a proximal part of substantially rectangular cross-section, the proximal part widening continuously along stem height in the lateral and medial directions and having ribs (10) which extend parallel to its longitudinal axis (5), characterized in that the stem core is so curved at its proximal end that the cross-section of the stem core in shape resembles a banana, the curve gradually merging distally into a straight line, and the number of ribs (10) in the concave zone of the curve are of greater height than on the convex side so that the envelope outer boundary of the stem (1) is in cross-section lenticular.
