Jack having a vertical support, a base arranged at the lower end thereof and an insertion pin which can be displaced along the vertical support and is intended for insertion into a tube which is recessed into the body of a vehicle to be raised and the opening of which is closed by a flap which can be swung open about a hinge. In order to be able to open the closure flap simply and without using a special tool when raising a vehicle, the jack is provided on a part protruding from the vertical support with a projection for reaching behind that edge of the flap which lies opposite the hinge.
