A multipurpose rucksack comprises two pouches (1, 2) joined along a common connecting strip (3). The two pouches can be folded together about the connecting strip to form a double pouch and folded back about the connecting strip to form a rucksack. In the double-pouch form, the multipurpose rucksack can be gripped by the handle (4) attached to the connecting strip (3); in the rucksack form, it can be carried by means of a pair of carrying straps (5). In an extended embodiment of the connecting strip (3), the multipurpose rucksack can be used in an extended double-pouch form as a pair of bicycle saddle bags.
