Articles obtd. by stretching syndiotactic styrene polymers have a Mw of more than 300,000. Pref. the styrene polymer includes homopolymer of styrene, alkylstyrene, halogenated styrene or alkoxy styrene or copolymer of styrene and other copolymerisable monomers. The polymer has syndiotacticity of more than 85%. The polymer is stretched to at least 3 times pref.. The process is carried out in solvents e.g. benzene, toluene, cyclohexane, decaline, THF, CCl4, dichloromethane or trichlorobenzene.
