A description is given of a porous metal object (10) consisting of metal particles (12) which are coated over at least part of their surface with a layer (14) and are joined together with voids (18) between the metal particles (12) to form a mechanically strong body. In order to save on the energy that is normally required to produce porous metal objects (10) of this kind, the coating layer (14) consists of a binder. This binder can be a mixed adhesive with at least two components. Once the reaction of the mixed adhesive is complete, the metal particles (12) are bonded together. <IMAGE>
