A live locating centre has a housing (40) which is provided with an external taper (31) essentially over its entire length. Rotatably mounted in the housing (40) is a rotary body (42) which at one end runs out into a running point (43) and is axially and radially mounted in the housing (13; 40) by means of bearings (45, 46, 51, 62). The housing (40) is provided with an axial through-bore (41), and the rotary body (42) passes axially through the through-bore (41). It is preferably mounted (45, 46) in the area of the axial outlets of the through-bore (41). One bearing consists of a bearing ring of rolling bodies arranged freely between the housing (40) and the rotary body (42) (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
