The invention relates to oral compositions for combating dental caries. The compostions comprise a fluorine-containing anti-caries agent such as sodium fluoride or sodium monofluorphosphate and a particulate hydroxyapatite as abrasive. These ingredients are surprisingly compatible in that there is a reduced loss of available fluoride upon storage.
