PURPOSE:To prevent a vehicle speed limiting means from operating during the stoppage or acceleration of a vehicle by adding the monitoring of engine speed to the conditions for operating the vehicle speed limiting means. CONSTITUTION:A comparator 30 as an idling detecting means detects that an engine 10 is at a speed above an idling speed. A timer circuit 36 outputs an A signal when the idling speed continued for above a certain time according to the output of the comparator 30, a vehicle speed discriminating means 42 outputs a B signal when a vehicle speed is within a defined speed range, and a comparator 54 as a maximum engine speed detecting means outputs a C signal when the engine speed is above a defined maximum speed. An AND circuit 58 outputs a vehicle speed limiting signal D on condition that all the A, B, and C signals are outputted to operate a vehicle speed limiting means. Thereby, a vehicle speed at which a vehicle is actually traveling at above the maximum speed can be surely distinguished and discriminated from racing in a stopped condition or accelerating. |
