In a fuel cell battery comprising stacked components forming a series of cells, as illustrated in the Figure, wherein each electrode 1 separates successive cells, and half cells defined by the electrode, an insulating frame 2, and a semipermeable diaphragm 3 which separates the half cells of each cell, the cell reagents are carried in two electrolyte streams through passages formed by holes 6 in at least one side of each component, alternate passages on one side carrying one electrolyte stream and being connected via channels 7 to half cells of one polarity, while the remaining passages on that side carry the other stream and are connected to the half cells of the opposite polarity. The electrolyte flow on each side of the electrodes is thus similar and parallel; the exhaust channels and passages are preferably a system similar to the supply system, on the opposite side of the battery. |
