<p>The flexible coupling is for connecting an internal combustion engine to a hydro-dynamic transmission, in which the drive is transmitted by means of rubber inserts. The hair pin springs fit in slots cut in the engine flywheel and are clamped to rectangular bosses which project from the driven half of the coupling. The driving side of the spring is slightly bowed and is held by the bolts so that only a limited deflection is possible when transmitting the driving torque and the spring is therefore not over-stressed. The characteristics of the spring ensure that its resonant frequency is above the rotational speed of the drive.</p> |
