<p>In apparatus for welding two or more layers of thermoplastic material, first and second welding jaws 4, 6 are adapted to be disposed on opposite sides of at least two layers of thermoplastic material and to be forced against each other with said layers interposed to apply welding pressure thereto. First and second welding bars 1, 2 are provided, which extend parallel to each other in their longitudinal direction and comprise the jaws 4, 6, respectively. At least one jaw is provided with a deformable heat supply element 3 or 5, which faces the other jaw and is adapted under welding pressure to conform to the adjacent surface of said layers disposed between said welding jaws. The element 3 or 5 may comprise a mass of plastically deformable material in a tear-resistant enclosure, a soft tube filled with liquid or gas, or a heat exchanger surface, and may have a cover of low-adhesion. <IMAGE></p> |
