PURPOSE:To inhibit the decomposition of a graphite intralaminar compd. in the air and to improve the stability by subjecting the compd. to ion sputtering or vapor-depositing a metal on the compd. CONSTITUTION:A graphite intralaminar compd., especially a graphite intralaminar compd. contg. an acceptor type compd. as an insert is subjected to ion sputtering with a gaseous ion source or a metal is vapor-deposited on the graphite intralaminar compd. The surface laminar structure of the graphite intralaminar compd. is partially destructed by the ion sputtering to inhibit the release of the insert between the layers or the reaction of the insert with a reactive body such as water is inhibited by the vapor deposition, so the stability of the graphite intralaminar compd. is improved.
