PURPOSE:To obtain a serial printer which accepts a compact power supply by providing a means to make variable the timing for printing of first and second head pin strings in accordance with a printing mode by which different printing intervals are designated. CONSTITUTION:If data which indicates a printing mode I is entered into a printing mode control section 1 from a host device, the offset amount between the printing times of an L pin and an R pin is calculated by a printing mode control section 1. However, the offset amount is so preset that the overlapping area of an electric current supplied to the L pin and that to the R pin is minimized. Consequently, printing is performed without controlling the offset of printing time. Next, if data which indicates the printing mode II is entered, the offset amount between the printing times of the L pin and the R pin is calculated by the printing mode control section 1 and a control signal which controls the offset so that the overlapping area of the current supplied to the L pin and that to the R pin becomes small, is output. |
