<p>PURPOSE:To perform the recording and reproduction of a large amount of image data by recording the image data and managing information on plural tracks recorded obliquely on a magnetic tape, and performing the reproduction by varying search speed based on the difference of the position of a desired track and that of the present track. CONSTITUTION:Data managing information is recorded on a part (sub data area of a rotary head type digital audio tape recorder R-DAT1) of the plural tracks T1-T4 recorded obliquely on the magnetic tape 1-1 by using the R-DAT1, and the image data is recorded on another part (PC area of the R-DAT1). And a means 3 to search those data is provided, and the speed of search is decreased as approaching targeted tracks T1-T4. In such a way, it is possible to record the large amount of image data in large quantities, and also, to read out and reproduce them rapidly.</p> |
