The value arrangement on a packing machine comprises a delivery pipe for contents extending vertically and two co-operating value elements situated at the lower end of the pipe. One of the latter is movable between an open and a shut position. The second value element is arranged to be stationary at the lower end of the delivery pipe. The movable value element is axially displaceable between an upper, open position in which an annular discharge gap is formed between the value elements and a lower position in which it shuts the said discharge gap. The movable value element is annular, its upper end being supported so that it can slide on the delivery pipe.
