PURPOSE:To reduce an opening/closing noise and cool a valve which is provided in a conduit for by-passing an intake air quantity detector and which is opened in engine operation with a large quantity of intake air, by placing the valve in an air cleaner. CONSTITUTION:An intake air quantity detector 8, which is made up of a vortex flow meter comprising a vortex generator 9, a vortex sensor 10 and a rectifier 11, is mounted inside the air cleaning element 4 of an air cleaner 1. A conduit 12 for by-passing the intake air quantity detector 8 is also provided inside the element 4. A valve 16, which is opened and closed by an electromagnetic unit 18 and a coupling rod 17, is provided in the conduit 12. When the quantity of intake air has increased, the electromagnetic unit 18 acts to open the valve 16 to reduce the flow resistance of the intake air quantity detector 8. |
