A nut is of non-circular cross-section for fitting in a similarly shaped hole, and comprises a flange 12 at one end with recesses 11a adjacent to flange formed with relief surfaces (11c), Fig. 3, and stop surfaces (11b), so that the nut can be inserted in the aperture and rotated by a screw, which forms a thread in the nut, to prevent withdrawal. The head is formed with an annular rim 12 joined to the nut by a flexible web. The recesses may comprise only the stop surfaces, and may extend into the web of the flange for ease of manufacture. Small projections may be formed on the top of the flange.
