PURPOSE:To adjust light quantity and hue by the simple expedient through simple operation by providing liquid crystal display filters provided on the optical path of each color splitting optical image and a voltage impressing means variably controlling a voltage impressed on said filter. CONSTITUTION:The liquid crystal filters (LCD filter) 23 are provided on the optical path of a light R and that of a light G. The LCD filter 23 is produced in such a way that two glass plates 25a and 25b coated with transparent electrodes 24a and 24b inside of them are confronted and many nematic liquid crystals 26 with positive dielectric anisotropy and many two-color pigment 27 are injected at an appropriate rate into the plates. The voltage impressing means 28 impresses a variable voltage in a range of 0 to 20V, for instance, between the electrodes 24a and 24b. Therefore, by controlling the voltage impressed on the LCD filter 25, the quantity of transmitted light and/or its wavelength level can be changed simultaneously and independently. Thus, light quantity and hue can be adjusted by the simple expendient through simple operation. |
