The invention relates to a portable electronic device making it possible to transmit or receive audiofrequency electrical signals by telephone link, within the limits of the pass band of the telephone network. The device according to the invention consists of a package 1 equipped with an audiofrequency input 2 and output 3, with a connector 4 and 6 linked by way of a wire 5 to a multiway telephone socket 7, the latter connecting up the plug of the telephone handset and the socket of the telephone network. A switch 8 determines the mode of operation: transmission or reception. A light-emitting diode 9 indicates in transmission mode the saturation threshold of the system. A variable potentiometer 10 makes it possible to adjust the sensitivity of the audio frequency input 2. The device according to the invention can be used singly or by both parties; in which case it sets up an instantaneous and remote link between any two audiofrequency electrical systems. <IMAGE>
