a stub-axle support (8) has a precise bore (7) with accurately spaced end faces. In this the outer-race (6) of a duplex ball or roller bearing (3) is held. This has external grooves to accept circlips or similar, the distance between which gives a close axial fit over the support end-faces. The entire bearing, using either one or both inner races (5), is first pressed on the wheel-hub (1). Then, through holes in the flange of the wheel-hub, pegs push the outer-race with circlip (9) in place, into the bore, following which, a second circlip (9') is fitted. ADVANTAGE - Reduces or eliminates axial movement of the bearing and thus noise, as well as simplifying, and reducing the proportions of the support.
