摘要 When regenerating the cathode of a cathode ray tube, gas atoms and molecules (O, C, CO, CO2) and, to a very limited extent, metal particles and their compounds (Ba, Sr, Ca, BaCO3, SrCO3, CaCO3) emerge from the cathode surface into the vacuum. The metal particles and their compounds are deposited loosely as impurities on electrodes, glass wall and getter in a random manner. As a result of these impurities, high-voltage flashovers occur in the evacuated glass tube of the cathode ray tube between the anode and the "other electrodes" during the operation of a regenerated cathode ray tube in a visual display unit. The flashover energy often destroys semiconductor components in the picture-reproducing device, in which the cathode ray tube operates. The invention has the purpose of cleaning the interior space of the glass tube by burning it off with high voltage. In the inventive method, the anode high-voltage of a picture-reproducing device is used. The anode of a cathode ray tube which has been contaminated by regeneration is in this case connected to the positive terminal of the anode high-voltage source and the other electrodes of the same tube are connected via a separate device to the negative terminal of the same anode high-voltage source. When switching on the high-voltage- supplying picture-reproducing device, flashovers occur in the connected, regenerated cathode ray tube.
