In a process for controlling a fluid bed treatment device, the fluid bed is subdivided by internals (3) into a plurality of zones through which the fluidised material flows in sequence, calming the bed motion. In the calmed zone, in the region of the surface (11), flow metering points (10a and 10b) are provided above and below the surface (11), as a result of which the flow is braked and a counterpressure is built up which serves as a control impulse for conducting away the fluidised material. The fluidising density determination is carried out by a gamma radiation source (16) and a densitometer (15) and serves for controlling the compressor (6) for the fluidising medium. Finally, the temperature of the fluid bed is measured by a temperature probe (17) in the flow of the outgassing fluidising gas and, as a result, heating of the fluid bed or the feed of fresh gas material to be treated is controlled. <IMAGE>
