The prior art (German Offenlegungsschrift 2726905, Figure 3) is a basin with a water bowl and a pipe loop arranged under the bottom thereof, for conveying delivered warm water which heats the bottom of the bowl, the pipe loop forming a substantially planar half-oval and being installed in a heat insulation between the bottom of the bowl and a plate arranged at a distance from the latter in such a way that it bears against the underside of the bottom of the bowl. The disadvantage of this construction and arrangement of the pipe loop is the risk of frost for water standing in the bowl, which has entered the latter while warm, cools down and cannot be kept warm by warm water standing in readiness, which serves as drinking water and flows through an outlet valve into the bowl when this valve is opened by the animals. The object of the invention is to be able to supply to the bottom of the bowl a relatively large amount of heat in order to prevent the risk of frost. To solve this object, the pipe loop forms at least one ascending winding which is arranged in an air space reaching up to the bottom of the bowl and closed all around. The advantage of this solution is that the coiled winding, in particular in the case of a plurality of windings, permits a relatively intensive heating of the bottom of the bowl through heated air flowing vertically upwards, preventing water in the bowl from freezing up. <IMAGE>
