A ceiling fitting or wall fitting is described for low-voltage luminaires, in particular halogen lamps. The fitting has a transformer, a first assembly element for fastening the fitting to a ceiling or wall, a second assembly element for holding the low-voltage luminaire and a canopy (baldachin) which surrounds these parts. The first and second assembly elements are constructed as plates which are connected to one another by means of fastening elements, while maintaining a distance, variable in the vertical and horizontal direction, which is suitable for the intermediate storage of the transformer. The corresponding suspension system of the luminaire has, on its side facing away from the luminaire, a universal plug element which can be plugged together with a plug section, complementary thereto, on the second plate. <IMAGE>
