In a method for the production of a carrier element, especially for leads, cables, wires and the like, for example for optical waveguides, at least one recess (precise guide), open on one side, is introduced into the surface of the carrier element, in which recess the lead, the cable, the wire or the like is arranged. In order to make possible in a simple way the production of a carrier element with recesses (precise guides) of great dimensional accuracy, a mould element having the shape of the recess (precise guide) is set on a base element, a coating is applied to the surface of the base element and the mould element is subsequently removed.
