WATER SUPPLY AND DRAINAGE DEVICE FOR AN EVAPORATIVE COOLER

A water supply and drainage device for an evaporative cooler is disclosed. The device includes a first valve (20) for enabling water to be supplied to the evaporative cooler and a second valve (40) for draining water from the evaporative cooler. The first valve (20) is a solenoid type valve and is supplied with power when a water pump in the evaporative cooler is switched on. The second valve (40) includes a solenoid valve (44) which is powered when the water pump is switched on. A conduit (30) is provided to extend between a position downstream of the first valve (20) to the second valve (40) so that water pressure in the conduit (30) and power supplied to the solenoid valve (44) can maintain the second valve closed to prevent water draining from the evaporative cooler. Upon switching off of the water pump, power is disconnected to the first valve (20) and solenoid valve (44) to cause the first valve (20) to close to prevent further water entering the evaporative cooler and to cause the solenoid valve (44) to open to enable the pressure supplied through the conduit (30) to drain away to enable the second valve (40) to open so that water can drain from the evaporative cooler.
