PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of a connecting operation and to shorten the connection time by arraying plural pieces of single optical fibers, holding the fibers in this state by means of a fiber holder and subjecting the fibers to simultaneous fusion slicing similarly to tape-shaped multiple optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of the single optical fiber 7 are assumed to be arrayed and paralleled at a prescribed pitch. The state is then the same as the arranging state of respective filters in the tape-shaped multiple optical fibers. The state in which these plural fibers 7 are paralleled at the prescribed pitch is thereupon, maintained if the fibers are put into this state and are then held by the fiber holder 6. Since the plural fibers 7 can be maintained in the state of arraying the same at the front ends by holding the fibers by the fiber holder 6 in such a manner, the fibers can be handled simultaneously in exactly the same manner as in case of holder the tape-shaped multiple optical fibers by the fiber holder 6 after the fiber holder 6 is mounted. The working efficiency is thereby improved and the time required before all of plural pieces of the single optical fiber are connected is extremely shortened. |
