1417526 Ultra-violet radiation resistant polyamide fibers E I DU FONT DE NEMOURS & CO 1 Nov 1973 [2 Nov 1972] 50778/73 Heading B5B Aromatic polyamide fibres having improved resistance to u.v. degradation are made by dry or wet spinning fibres from a suitable solution and washing but not drying the fibres, and heati ng the still wet fibres in an aqueous dispersion of an ultra-violet light screening material and drying the fibres. The u.v. light screening material is preferably a substituted benzotriazole, a substituted benzophenone or a substituted triazine used in an amount of 2-6% by wt. of the fibres. The fibres are such that the u.v. screening material is distributed throughout the fibre and no agglomerates thereof are greater than 0À01 microns.
