Process for producing reinforcing elements from glass fibres which are sheathed in a heat-curing plastic and are then subjected to a heat treatment, by which the glass fibres undergo a linear expansion and the synthetic-resin sheathing is cured, which then, during cooling of the glass fibres, is put under compressive prestressing, so that a state of internal stress is produced and part of the expansion (strains) produced by the service load is accounted for.
