PURPOSE:To obtain an ink jet recorder never deteriorating in recording image quality even to a recording medium having a different absorptivity, by mounting a heating means consisting of heating elements provided on a member engaging with a recording medium and a control means controlling an electric power to be supplied to the heating means according to the characteristics of the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A heating means consisting of heating elements is mounted on a platen 11 coming into contact with a recording medium 5. A platen heater drive source 12 for driving the heating elements is controlled by a control circuit 13 according to the characteristics of the recording medium 5, whereby a heating value generated from the heating elements is controlled. In this manner, by the control to make the recording medium 5 a proper temperature through the platen 11, a high-quality image recording can be always applied even on a recording medium having a slightly different recording-ink absorptivity, as represented by a bleeding ratio, without a quality deterioration caused by a black stripe occurring in a high-density area in an image recording and a change in recording image density. |
