PURPOSE: To vary control pressures according to the magnitude of the load torque of a driven shaft by providing a monitoring unit for monitoring the control pressures applied to a pressure plate by control means, and connecting a sensor to the unit. CONSTITUTION: A second clutch part B is provided with a pressure plate 20 and a reaction plate 30 which clamp a friction plate 17 between them from a longitudinal direction and control means 19-21 working on the pressure plate 20 to urge it toward the reaction plate 30. A torque limiting mechanism 50 comprising two parts 51, 52 spaced at an interval which varies depending on the fluctuation of transfer torque is attached to a clutch and coupled to either a shaft 16 (input shaft) or a shaft 32 (output shaft) for rotation therewith. A sensor 60 detecting axial stresses generated at the mechanism 50 is provided in a housing 100. A monitoring unit 70 for monitoring control pressures applied to the pressure plate 20 by the control means 19-21 is provided and the sensor 60 is connected to the unit 70. |
