PRODUCTION OF POLYACETYLENE

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain polyacetylene having unidirectionally long conjugated double bonds and possessing conductivity and a nonlinear optical effect, by irradiating a monomolecular membrane of an acetylenic organic molecule cast on the surface of water with energy beams while applying a magnetic field thereto. CONSTITUTION:An acetylenic organic compound such as 3-chloro-omega-tricosynoic acid is dissolved in an organic solvent such as chloroform and cast on the surface of water to form a monomolecular membrane by the application of a given surface pressure. A magnetic field parallel with the surface of water is applied to this monomolecular membrane as such or after being transferred to a substrate to orient the spatial direction of the acetylene groups in the molecule. The monomolecular membrane is irradiated in this state with energy beams such as X-rays to obtain a polyacetylene.
