The evaporator has two concentric, hollow, cylindrical bodies one inside the other, enclosing a chamber for the evaporating material, whse walls each cotnain a gas-permeable evaporation zone. By rotating the bodies w.r.t. each other, the zones are moved between the evaporator position, in line with each other, and the shut-off position. A fastener on the casing of one body positions the evaporator in an area in the passenger compartment with intensive air flow. A fastener consists of a clip (3) at right angles to the axis of the evaporator (V) and tangential to it. The outer body (2) is pref. a sprung, part-circular clamping sleeve extending over the evaporation zone (1d) of the inner body (1), and round the latter through more than 270 deg..
