(A) Appts. for crushing and perforating scrap cans includes a plate which has upright parallel mandrels on one side and which is positioned parallel to a press plate, a drive being provided for displacing the plate from a starting position towards the press plate and back again. The press plate has holes which are coaxial with and of greater diameter than the mandrels. A stripper plate, with holes coaxial with and of greater diameter than the mandrels, is displaceable along the mandrels between and parallel to the two plates in synchronism with and the same direction as the press plate. The press plate acts along a support plane which ends in front of mandrels, a top loading space for the cans being formed above the support plane between the mandrels and the pressplate in its starting position. (B) Also claimed is a collection container in which the appts. (A) is mounted above the container bottom with its top loading space positioned below the inlet opening of the container and with its drive operated from outside the container. USE/ADVANTAGE - The appts. is useful in tin can disposal containers and prepares the cans at the disposal site for subsequent de-tinning, thus reducing transport costs.
