摘要 |
In the prodn. of H2 from water, water mols. are decomposed with a reactive metal A and the resultant H2 is dissolved in a metallic, crystalline or amorphous substrate B, which is given a thin film coating of A. To make up the energy balance, energy is supplied in the form of another expendable, oxidisable metal, radiant energy or electrical energy. ADVANTAGE - The process makes the H2 produced on the surface of A available, on the uncoated side of B, since B captures the H2 but forms only a weak metal-hydrogen bond, whereas A forms very stable hydrides. The H2 either dissolves directly in B or first forms a hdride-withydride with A and then diffuses through the AB interface into B.
