<p>PURPOSE:To improve the formability and durability of a can by using internally plasticized and external plasticized thermosetting resins having various specific properties for the film of a previously painted metallic sheet and further subjecting the metallic sheet to deep drawing at a prescribed drawing ratio and thickness ratio. CONSTITUTION:The internally plasticized and external plasticized thermosetting resins having the properties of 30-90% gel fraction measured at the b. p. temp. in methyl ethyl ketone, >=200% elongation at 100 deg.C, 1X10<6>-5X10<9>dyne/cm<2> Young's modulus, and <=20% chlorine content in the resin are used. The metallic sheet is subjected to thinning and deep drawing at the drawing ratio over the entire part confined to a 1.3-4.0 range and the side wall part confined to a 5-40% range of the stock thickness. Generation of the crack lines in the film of the can is prevented, since the protective film of the resins is applied on the metallic sheet prior to the drawing. The drawing is executed at the optimum drawing ratio and, therefore, the formability and durability of the can are improved.</p> |
