The outer shell of an insulated cabinet includes a joint 14 (Fig. 4) between two abutting edge portions 16, 17 which may have flanges 30, 31 as shown, and adhesive sealing means 33 which spans the joint and serves to hold edges 16, 17 together prior to the in situ foaming of plastics insulation 13. The sealing means is urged against the shell by the foam and subsequently serves as a vapour barrier; it may comprise a pressure-sensitive tape, putty or tar. As described, the shell is formed of two identical halves, and thus includes two joints 14, and has a top opening with a lid 21 (Fig. 3). A vinyl breaker strip 23 connecting the shell and liner is formed with a depending finger 26 and grooves 24, 25 for receiving the upper edges of the shell and liner, one wall 36 of groove 25 being cut away to accommodate flanges 30, 31. The shell extends below the liner to provide a compartment for refrigeration machinery (Fi g 1, not shown).
