发明名称 NICKEL OXIDE-HYDROGEN SECONDARY CELL
摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent the accumulation of hydrogen in the negative electrode consisting of a hydrogen occluding alloy in the early stage of charge-discharge cycle of secondary cell by making the negative electrode to contain a compound of which reversible potentials for oxidation and reduction reactions are nobler than oxidation and reduction potentials of the hydrogen occluding alloy. CONSTITUTION:The negative electrode 7 of a secondary cell contains a compound of which reversible potentials for oxidation and reduction reactions are nobler than oxidation and reduction potentials of the hydrogen occluding alloy. Therefore when the cell is charged, the said compound is preferentially reduced than the hydrogen occluding alloy, and after the reduction of whole compound hydrogen is occluded in the hydrogen occluding alloy, thus the negative electrode 7 consisting of the hydrogen occluding alloy is polarized in the oxidation direction after the completion of charging of the cell. Thereby the accumulated hydrogen is oxidized and removed from the negative electrode 7 not to decrease the capacity of which, in addition the cell can be made long-lived.
