PURPOSE: To facilitate replacement of a seal device in a field by uncoupling a rotating part and a non-rotating part from each other during the installation of a seal cartridge constructed as a unitary assembly in which the rotating part and the non-rotating part are connected together. CONSTITUTION: A tubular supporting member 30 supports a rotating seal part 10b mounted to a rotary shaft 12 and a non-rotating seal part 10a mounted to a housing 14. A frangible supporting member 38, which holds the non-rotating seal part 10a in a predetermined position with respect to the rotating part 10b during a mounting process, is provided, and the frangible supporting member 38 is fitted to the rotary shaft 12 so as to release the non-rotating seal part 10a when it moves and reaches the predetermined mounting position.
