PURPOSE:To display the present position of a moving object accurately, by a method wherein the map information of a scheduled region is read out from stored map information and the course information thereof is compared to the detected position information to correct a running route. CONSTITUTION:When a map number is indicated by an operation apparatus 8, the indicated map information is read out form a recording medium 5 through a recording meidum playback apparatus 6 by a signal treating apparatus 3 to be displayed by a display apparatus 7. In the next step, the initial institution of a display mark at a starting point is carried out by the operation apparatus 8. When running is initiated, a present position is calculated in the signal treating apparatus 3 by the distance pulse signal from a distance detector 1 and the direction pulse signal from a direction detector 2. The correction of a position is carried out so as to accurately bring the present position onto a course pattern and the data of the present position is sent to a moving route memory apparatus 4 and the display apparatus 7 to accurately display the present position display mark M1, the advance direction display mark M2 and the moving route display mark M3 of a vehicle. |
