The socket for inserting one pipe (1) into another pipe (2) has a support centring the one pipe in the other. The support consists of a curved section (3) joined to a straight sections (4). Each straight section has a slit (5) open on the outside and extended partly onto the curved section (3). The two slits are on the same plane at right angles to the pipe longitudinal axis. The centring device is in the form of support-bolts (6) radially and evenly distributed over the curved section outer surface on one side of the intersection.
