PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber, excellent in dimensional stability and suitable as a reinforcing material for rubber structures in tire cords, V-belts, hoses, etc., by doubling plural first twisted yarns having a specific intrinsic viscosity, amorphous orientation function, strength, etc., and finally twisting the doubled yarns. CONSTITUTION:A polymer, containing polyethylene terephthalate in an amount of >=90mol% in the total number of recurring units and having 0.97-1.15 intrinsic viscosity is melt spun, passed through a high-temperature atmospheric zone preferably at 205-350 deg.C, cooled and then drawn to provide a fiber having <=0.55 amorphous orientation function. One or more resultant fibers are subjected to first twisting. Two or more resultant twisted yarns are then doubled and subjected to final twisting to afford the aimed fibers simultaneously satisfying all the formulas I (T is strength; Y is dimensional stability index), II, III, IV (ME is intermediate strength) and V ( S is dry heat shrinkage factor). |
