Disclosed are novel polypeptides selected from the group consisting of: <IMAGE> Compound 1 Lys-Val-Leu-Cys-Gln-Leu-Ser-Ala-Arg-Lys-Leu- +TR Leu-Gln-Asp-Ile-Nle-Ser-Arg-NH2 (free dithiol); functional equivalents thereof: and organic and inorganic addition salts thereof; and <IMAGE> Compound 2 Lys-Val-Leu-Cys-Gln-Leu-Ser-Ala-Arg-Lys-Leu- +TR Leu-Gln-Asp-Ile-Nle-Ser-Arg-NH2 (cyclic disulfide); functional equivalents thereof: and organic and inorganic addition salts thereof. These polypeptides have been found to promote the release and elevation of growth hormone levels in the blood of animals. Also disclosed are novel combinations of said polypeptides with other polypeptides, novel formulations including said polypeptides as well as methods for administering said polypeptides, alone and in combination with other polypeptides acting in a synergistic manner to promote release and elevation of growth hormone levels in animals.
